Sometimes one kiss…
For five long years since the day he met Addison McClain, Maikao Iona has been making every excuse in the book as to why he can’t date anyone. But the real reason is the fact he fell hard for her the day he laid eyes on her…er, assets by accident during a charity fundraiser. The issue? He knows if he comes remotely close to telling her how he feels that she’ll run faster than an Olympian the moment the words “I love you” leave his mouth. So Maikao has to be crafty, he has to be smooth, he has to…well, damn it, he has to go claim his woman, who is now determined to date one of their mutual friends.
Is all it takes…
Every second that Addison McClain is in Maikao Iona’s presence feels right. Something that wasn’t so confusing when they were simply best friends. Yet now things have grown, changed, molded into a relationship that doesn’t feel so … friendly anymore. Past history tells her that she isn’t remotely what Maikao is looking for. The question is—why does her fireman lose his ever-loving mind every time she mentions dating someone else?

As a Nikki Winter fan I can honestly say I love her writing style. Humor, romance, likeable protagonist, and very good writing all make her novellas and books interesting and enjoyable to read. However, I've come to notice a pattern in all her stories that has me finally hanging up 'The not going to read now' sign and giving them all three stars. The pattern I've noticed is that all her heroines, heroes, and secondary characters are the same. There are a few exemptions, but overall and essentially they are the same. All of her heroes are A-B type alphas who have juvenile traits that could be humorous, very strong-willed, arrogant, and marginally egotistical. They each adopt the cavemen "she is mines, and I will show her and the world whose mark she has stamped on her" mentality. They each have to be extremely dominant in the bedroom and in her life. The thought, "You're treading on my dreams, Cleric", comes to mind when I read how they treat and dismiss their actions of dominance towards the heroine and her wishes. There are redeeming moments where I think she'll have the characters actually "talk-out" their issues, but the hero quickly by-passes that talk for sexual congress and bullying to get his way, while the heroine quickly submits to it without a backwards thought to how she truly felt.
In the case of the heroine, she is a type A, stubborn, alpha every other time in her life, slightly violent, confident, and successful female. Unfortunately, those are the good qualities that tended to get overshadowed when the hero bulldozes his way and "ways" into her life. The heroine is always fighting the attraction they have for the male, and mostly because of the stubborn idea that the male is a man-whore, would never fall for her exclusively, and she is too confident to fall to the preying, overwhelming, and disturbingly good ways of the male. "I will not be apart of his already built harem," is the thought that takes place when I examine her feelings. However, at the first sudden kiss from the hero she submits and falls willing victim to his sexual advances. His views, ways, and wants become hers because underneath her stubborn streak she truly wants him, truly wants to be docile, and malleably persuaded. It doesn't matter if her fears are legitimate. The Hero's sexual dominance of spanking, tying up, and vulgarity (which I'm not adverse to on the sexual plane) weaves a spell around her. That is where I draw a line. It's one things to persuade a person sexually, but to bully them (occasionally brutally) is annoying and not always sexy. Just because the heroine submits to the hero doesn't mean she always should when it comes to addressing her fears, which brings to mind how the heroes of her stories never seem to have any fears when it comes to being with the heroine. If the hero does have fears they are quickly accepted and conquered because her heroes are more honest with themselves, while the heroines are in denial. That idea is fine and dandy every once in while within the stories, but not all of the time (I include that is vise-versa for the heroes having all the fears and the heroines accepting and pushing the relationship). I believe obstinacy shouldn't be the only reason for why the protagonists have problems accepting their relationships and coming together. I also think that though friendly violence can be comically portrayed, and is in her stories, it doesn't have to be in every last story with every last character (first or secondary).
In all, my thought is repetition can be redundant and obnoxious, and that is what I found again in Nikki's story. Once more, remind you I love her writing style--it is captivating and greatly written with minimal (if there are any at all) errors. I simply can't read about another amusingly violent character, a stubbornly scared female who desires to be made submissive, and a male who is a supposed alpha (because being an alpha doesn't always mean my way or the highway) who is dominant, arrogant, partially bullying, and unrelenting. Frankly, if NW should ever create a story in where the heroine is just as dominant inside and outside the bedroom as the hero, the hero is bullying or drilling (literally) his ways into the female protagonist, and the complications of the romantic relationship are actually legitimate (i.e. he or she has job that will cause them to leave where they are, one of the characters can't have children and both want them, one of the MCs have a medical condition that is or was deterring, et cetera) and that obstacle is addressed properly (and not just sexually) then I'd love to return to reading her stories. Still this doesn't mean her stories aren't worth reading, because they are. I simply am taking a hiatus with them.

Kiss and Tell edition by nikki winter Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I loved this book. But most importantly I loved the way Nikki weaved romance between two best friends. A lot of humor between both sets of best friends. Awesome read, awesome author. 5 Stars!
The Story Line Was Really Good But It Was Rushed. The Story Was Too Short To Me. I Feel Like There Weren't Enough Complications. Like That Fact That Everyone Was Trying To Get Mak And Addie Together. There Wasn't Anyone Who Was Against Them. Everything Just Fell Into Place Instantly. It Would Have Been A Lot Better If There Was At Least One Person Against Them Being Together And That Would Have Been An Obstacle The Mak And Addie Had To Over Come To Truly Be Together
Would I Buy Another Book By This Author?
I Honestly Don't Know. I Don't Want To Buy Another Half Written Book
I loved this book. I enjoyed the twist at the end the connection between Maikao and Addison was priceless. I could not put this book down and read it in one sitting. I even went back to the hot steamy sex scenes for a double take. Overall, this was an excellent read.
She did it again. This is the second book I have read from Nikki Winter and I was not disappointed. Addison and Mak are perfect for each other and while it takes Addison a little longer to figure it out thank goodness Mak takes the bull by the horns and makes it happen. The secondary characters rounded it all very nicely. The dialog between the characters just to darn funny and very easy to relate to (I know I can..haha!!) Now I will be singing Love in an elevator in my head...mmmmm Thank you Ms.Nikki you ROCK!!!
THis was a hot short read involving a hot fireman and a feisty, sassy and scared mocha beauty. I wanted to strangle the two because they kept running from what was right in front of them. It took their 2 best friends coniving and meddling to get them together. I totally loved the way he seduced her and the epilogue was just as fun. I suggest this highly erotic tail with a great feel for humor in the best way. I was annoyed with her for running from the truth of how she feels. His absolute persuite of her was funny and hot as all get out. I hope we see another one involving their best friends getting together.
This was a good story. It's about two people who are friends. Maikao has a thing for Addison. She is interested in Maikao's best friend. While she's trying to get the other guy's attention, Maikao is trying to figure out how to get Addison to notice him as more than a friend. Nikki Winter writes good stories. I appreciate the fact that she uses an editor. I didn't see any spelling or grammar mistakes. The characters were likeable. They didn't move too fast. There was actual character development even the this is a short story. It was a good read.
3.00 stars. This very short tale was well written with an unlikely but 'cute' premise. A set of male best friends and female best friends got their romantic signals crossed-but got ironed out by the story's end. This is the story of how Maikao Iona, a fire fighter, and Addison McClain, a nurse, disclosed Addison 's flirtation with Eli, Maikao's best friend, as a ploy to deny her love for Maikoa and at the same time force Maikao to act on his feelings for Addison. Carmen, Addison's best friend, exhales because she wants Eli for herself-the next book😜
